Actress Priyanka Chopra says she enjoys “sexting” with her pop-singer husband Nick Jonas when they have some time apart.

The 36-year-old actress married her 26-year-old beau in December last year, and she also said they like to share racy images with each other to keep the spark alive when their work keeps them away from each other.

Appearing on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen”, she was asked by the host if she believed “in sexting or FaceTime sex during long stints apart”, and she immediately replied: “For sure.”

Priyanka also said that she has helped her husband with his “manscaping”, but explained it was just the back of his head, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

She said: “No – once, I did once. Just his fade, back there.”

The star was later grilled on their wedding, and was asked to choose which of Nick’s famous brothers got them the best gift to celebrate their special day.

She added: “Well the good thing is, Kevin got us hundreds of bottles of wine, and Joe got us an amazing fridge which looks like a car to put it all in.”

Meanwhile, Priyanka previously revealed the key to a long-lasting relationship is “trust” and “respect”.

London: Raheem Sterling scored a hat-trick as England thrashed Czech Republic 5-0 in their opening match of the 2020 European championship qualifying campaign at Wembley here.

England dominated the match on Friday and pulled ahead in the 24th minute, when Sterling positioned perfectly at the far post to tap-in from a low cross from former Manchester City team-mate Jadon Sancho, reports Xinhua news agency.

The City forward then earned a penalty just before the interval and captain Harry Kane made no mistake from the spot.

Sterling made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute when the ball deflected off a Czech player and fell into his path then he held off his marker Ondrej Celustka, turning smartly and bending into the left corner.

He completed the hat-trick only six minutes later when he cut into the middle and shot from 25 yards with an effort which deflects off Celustka and beat the goalkeeper. He became the first England player to score a hat-trick at Wembley since Jermain Defoe in 2010.

Tomas Kalas’ own goal in the 84th minute made it 5-0 and also ended their miserable night.

New Delhi: Amidst all speculations, the BJP has announced K Surendran as their candidate in Pathanamthitta constituency for Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, none of the candidate lists released by BJP till Saturday morning had included the candidate for Pathanamthitta.

The party had announced their candidates for all constituencies other than Pathanamthitta the other day.

At first, it has been decided to field BJP state president P S Sreedharan Pillai in Pathanamthitta.

However, he later withdrew from entering the fray. Though there were assumptions that K Surendran will contest from Pathanamthitta, the official declaration regarding it was delayed.

The candidature of Surendran in Pathanamthitta was confirmed along with the candidate list of Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Sreedharan Pillai opined that K Surendran is a popular leader.

Gurgaon: A mob pelted stones at a house here and beat up member of a family, in an attack triggered by a game of cricket on Holi, police said Friday.

Six people were arrested for attempt to murder.

“The incident occurred on Thursday evening at 5.00 pm when some of the victim family members, belonging to a minority community, were playing cricket outside their residence in Bhup Singh Nagar,” ACP, Gurgaon, Shamsher Singh said.

The family later alleged it was a planned attack by a group of people “backed” by a Hindutva group.

The police, however, did not confirm the allegation.

A mob of about 40 people was allegedly involved in the attack on the family of three or four people in Bhondsi area, police said.

According to a victim, Shahid, six to seven drunk people asked his family members not to play cricket on the street.

The ACP said when the family continued to play cricket, the assailants were joined by over 40 youths who attacked the family with batons, iron rods, hockey sticks, and water pipes.

In a bid to save themselves, the victims rushed into their house but some of the attackers managed to barge in and beat them. The ones who didn’t enter pelted stones at the house.

They attacked Shahid with sticks and iron rods until he lost consciousness, the officer added.

The attack was captured on cellphone by one of the victims.

The video clip purportedly showed women family members pleading for mercy while Shahid was being thrashed, he said.

“We have registered a case of attempt to murder and other relevant sections against the attackers at Bhondsi Police station. We have arrested six goons and efforts are on to identify others with the help of the video,” the ACP said.

The victim family claimed the police took about 40 minutes to come to their rescue, though they kept calling on the help number. By then, the attackers had escaped, they claimed.

Islamabad: It would be a “mistake” for India to view Pakistan with the eye of pre-partition and its desire for peace should not be misconstrued as a sign of weakness, President Arif Alvi said on Saturday as Islamabad displayed its military might on the National Day.

Alvi was addressing the annual Pakistan Day Parade here to commemorate the resolution passed by the All-India Muslim League on the day in 1940 in Lahore demanding a separate country for Muslims.

The National Day featured a joint parade by the army, air force and navy, display of military hardware, along with open and veiled anti-India rhetoric.

“It was the duty and responsibility of Pakistan to respond to the Indian aggression… We responded with better strategy,” Alvi said, apparently referring to the downing of an Indian Air Force jet.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after a suicide bomber of Pakistan-based terror group JeM killed 40 CRPF personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district in February 14.

India launched a counter-terror operation against a JeM training camp in Balakot. The next day, Pakistan Air Force retaliated and downed a MiG-21 in an aerial combat and captured its pilot, who was handed over to India on March 1.

Alvi said India’s actions jeopardised peace in the region.

“It would a mistake on part of India to view Pakistan with the eye of pre-partition. Doing so would be very dangerous for the region’s stability.

“India will have to accept Pakistan as a reality, and it must come to the conclusion that dialogue is the only way to resolve issues,” Alvi said at the ceremony where Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad was the guest of honour.

He said Pakistan wants peaceful co-existence but its “desire for peace should not be misconstrued as weakness”.

“We are a peaceful nation, but are not oblivious to our defence, and the same has been proved in the recent demonstration of Pakistan’s defence capability,” he said, adding that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and respects integrity and sovereignty of other states.

Alvi said the country is safe and moving on the path of progress and development after effectively combating the menace of terrorism.

The president also inspected the parade before his address.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mehmood Hayat, army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, naval chief Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi and Chief of Air Staff Mujahid Anwar Khan attended the ceremony.

According to official sources in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a letter to Khan, greeting people of Pakistan on the eve of its National Day and highlighting the importance of a terror-free South Asia.

Modi, in his message, said it was time for the people of the sub-continent to work together for a democratic, peaceful, progressive and prosperous region, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence, they said.

Contingents, paratroopers and fighter jets from Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, China, Bahrain and Sri Lanka also took part in the parade.

Shahper and Buraq drones were also displayed in the parade along with different missile systems including Nasr, Babur, Shaheen 1, Ghuri, Shaheen 111 among others, and defence systems as well as tanks.

The day dawned with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals.

Special prayers were also offered in mosques after morning prayers for the country’s progress and prosperity.

New Delhi: The documents involving former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, which disclosed alleged payoutsin 2009, have once again raised the question: Can entries in diaries be treated as admissible evidence? Legal experts tend to allude to the three-decade-old Jain hawala case.

Legal experts say if entries in books of account, regularly kept in the course of business are relevant, then it can be treated as evidence.

“But it will depend on the investigation whether entries are supported by independent evidence,” says senior advocate Siddharth Luthra.

Senior Advocate Vikas Pahwa said that there is no evidentiary value of a personal diary containing random entries and accounts.

“In the Jain hawala case, the legal position regarding diaries was clarified that entries in diaries are not books of account. The entries in dairies have to be supported by the an independent evidence,” said Advocate Luthra.

Under Section 34 of the the Indian Evidence Act, entries in books of account, regularly kept in the course of business, are relevant whenever they refer to a matter into which the court has to inquire, but such statements shall not alone be sufficient evidence to charge any person with liability.

Senior Advocate N. Hariharan told IANS that it will depend on the investigating agencies whether entries in diaries have enough material to corroborate them with other relevant piece of evidence.

“The entries in diaries are not admissible in evidence in terms of Section 34 of the Indian Evidence Act, as the same are not books of accounts kept in regular course of business,” advocate Pahwa told IANS.

He said Supreme Court in various cases has interpreted that diaries and loose-sheets containing entries are inadmissible in evidence.

“The law requires that these entries, if relied upon, need corroboration. It is also required to be independently established by way of cogent evidence that the alleged entries are real and that the moneys were actually paid in terms of those entries. Having said that every case needs to be independently dealt with and requires investigation,” Pahwa told IANS.

However, one of the prosecutors told IANS that as per Supreme Court judgement delivered in Jain Hawala case against prominent politicians L K Advani and V C Shukla has ruled that the diaries presented by the prosecution were admissible as evidence under Section 34 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.

The apex court in its judgment delivered on March 2 1998 discharged Advani and Shukla observing that no prima facie case has been made out against them and that there is no evidence against them except the diaries, note books and the loose sheet with regard to the alleged payments.

The judgement was delivered by a three-member Bench of the apex court that time, comprising then Justices M K Mukherjee, S P Kurdukar and K T Thomas, who had also held that the evidence like diary is of such a nature which cannot be converted into legal evidence against them.

The apex court was hearing CBI appeal challenging a Delhi High Court’s order which had acquitted Advani and Shukla in the case.

Both prosecution and defence counsel placed emphasis on the interpretation of the diaries as admissible evidence.

According to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the material collected during investigation clearly disclosed that the Jains were in the habit of making payments to influential public servants and political leaders of high status expecting official favours from them.

They have also made payments to Shukla and Advani with that oblique motive.

As against Advani, the specific allegation was that he received a sum of Rs 25 lakhs from Jains during his tenure as a member of parliament, while Shukla, former cabinet minister, received approximately Rs 39 lakhs from Jains.

The CBI had alleged that during 1988-1991, Jains entered into a criminal conspiracy among themselves, the object of which was to receive unaccounted money and to disburse it to their companies, friends, close relatives and other persons including public servants and political leaders of India.

During the aforesaid period, the Jain brothers received Rs 59,12,11,685, a major portion of which came from foreign countries through hawala channels as kickbacks. An account of receipts and disbursements of the monies was maintained by one J K Jain in the diaries.

The top court had observed that the two spiral note books and the two spiral pads are “books” within the meaning of Section 34, but not the loose sheets of papers contained in the two files.

The court also took it into account whether the “books” fulfil the other requirements of Section 34 so as to be admissible in evidence.

Altaf Ahmed, then Additional Solicitor General, appearing for the CBI, submitted that the interpretation of the High Court that the expressions “books of account” and “business” appearing in the above section refer and relate to only such business as may exist between two persons is anomalous, for such a truncated view would disable law from dealing with illicit business and situations connected therewith, such as the case in hand, where a conspiracy was hatched to receive money through hawala channels and other sources.

According to Altaf Ahmed, any book in which monetary transactions are recorded and reckoned would answer the description of ‘book of account’ within the meaning of the Section 34 of Evidence Act.

Defence counsel Kapil Sibal had disputed the admissibility of those books in evidence on the ground that they were neither books of account nor were they regularly kept in the course of business. Sibal had argued that those books were memoranda kept by a person for his own benefit.

Sibal had argued that “account” meant a formal statement of money transactions between parties arising out of a contractual or a fiduciary relationship.

Sibal had also submitted that the entries were not contemporaneously made, and, on the contrary, they were made monthly which necessarily meant that those entries were made long after the dates the purported transactions of receipt and disbursement took place.

According to Altaf Ahmed, the entries reflect such periodicity and regularity as was compatible with the modus operandi of the business of Jain brothers of corrupting public servant including Members of Parliament and Ministers in order to influence their decisions and seek their favours for promotion of Jain brothers’ economic interests.

Countering Ahmed, Sibal had submitted that the evidence that has been collected during investigation only shows that the entries were made by J K Jain and that the Jain brothers had put certain signatures against some of those entries. He also responded that there was no proof, even prima facie, against any of the accused.

Advani’s counsel Ram Jethmalani had argued that independent evidence was required to proof the charges and in absence of any such evidence, no liability can be foisted under Section 34 of the Evidence Act.

The top court has held that the prosecution has not been able to made out a prima facie case to prove that Advani and Shukla were parties to such conspiracies and said: “…the charges of conspiracy, as framed/sought to be framed, cannot stand also against the Jains, for the simple reason that in a conspiracy, there must be two parties.

“Resultantly, the statements cannot be proved as admission of Jains of such conspiracy. We hasten to add that the case the prosecution intended to project now was not that there was a conspiracy amongst the Jains to offer illegal gratification to Advani and Shukla and that pursuant thereto the latter accepted the same,” said the top court’s order delivered on March 2 1998.
