Palani: In a tragic road accident that involved two cars and a bike at Vadipatti in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, five including four Keralites were killed and seven people sustained serious injuries.
A mother and her two children who were travelling to Ervadi from Malappuram were also among the dead.
The deceased have been identified as Raseena (39), her son Fasal (21), daughter Sahana (7) and car driver Hilar (47). All were passengers in the car. Palanichami (41), a native of Dindigal, also died in the incident and he was travelling on a bike.
The incident occurred on Thursday at about 3.15 pm on the national highway near Vadipatti. Sisana (18), another passenger in the car sustained serious injuries.
The car travelling from Madurai to Andhra first hit a bike and the driver of the car lost control and hit the car travelling to Ervadi.
Pazhanichami, Raseena, Fasal and Sahana died in the hospital. Hilar died on the spot.
The injured were passengers of the car who were travelling to Andhra Sanjitha (22), Praveen (14), Kiran (8) and Pandidurain (46) and the pillion rider on the bike sustained serious injuries. They have been admitted to government hospitals in Dindigal.
