CPI leader expelled after ration foodgrains seized from house

Karunagappally: A CPI local area committee leader was expelled from the party after 55 sacks of foodgrains were seized from his house. The seized grains were from the Department of Food Civil Supplies brought for ration purposes.

The dismissed party leader has been identified as Nizam, CPI Thazhava local committee member.

Party local committee secretary Sugathan Pillai said that Nizam was expelled from the primary membership of the party.

The decision was taken in an emergency local committee held in the presence of assembly committee secretary J Jayakrishnapilla.

Karunagapally police seized 53 sacks of rice and 2 sacks of wheat from Nizam’s house on Monday night. Police also seized a mini van and a bike which were used for smuggling the grains. The raid was based on a tip off received by Karunagappally ACP.
