Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in some districts of Kerala till July 19. However, the department has issued orange alert for Malappuram and Idukki on July 18 and July 19 respectively,
Meanwhile, the Kerala Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has issued safety guidelines for Eranakulam, Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad districts on Tuesday. At the same time, the authority has warned people in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts to stay alert.
KSDMA has issued guidelines for Kollam, Pathanamthita, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur on July 18. People in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Malappuram were asked to remain vigilant on July 19.
“Strong winds from southwesterly direction speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely to prevail over Southwest and adjoining West-central Arabian Sea. Sea condition will be rough to very rough,” warned IMD release.
Fishermen were advised not to venture into sea from Tuesday to Friday.
