New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her maiden budget speech in Lok Sabha on Friday. She began the presentation saying the NDA govt in its first term set the ball rolling for new India with strident commitment to fiscal consolidation.
“The Indian economy will grow to become a $3 trillion economy in the current year itself. It is now the sixth largest in the world. 5 years ago it was at the 11th position. We need to make structural reforms to achieve USD 5 trillion economy in next few years:,” said the minister in the budget speech.
“Last mile delivery stood out, our objective was and continues to be ‘Mazboot desh ke liye mazboot nagarik’,” she added.
Schemes such as ‘Bharatmala’, ‘Sagarmala’ and UDAN are bridging the rural and urban divide, improving our transport infrastructure.
