SFI-ABVP clash in Thiruvananthapuram; SFI district committee member Preeja sustains head injury

Thiruvananthapuram: In a clash between Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) at VTM NSS College at Dhanuvachapuram, near Neyyattinkara, a woman member of the SFI sustained a head injury and has been admitted to the Parassala government hospital on Monday.

The injured identified as Preeja SR happens to be the district committee member of SFI.

The scuffle broke out between the two outfits when the SFI members were about to distribute sweets among the first year students as it was Praveshanolsavam (warm welcome given to new students by the seniors) in the college.

“Beer bottles and stones were hurled at us by the ABVP, RSS workers. Preeja was attacked with a beer bottle and has three stitches on her forehead,” said Gowri, a friend of the latter to Evartha.

Meanwhile the Parassala police said that a case has been charged on the incident and a probe is on to nab the offenders.
