Wayanad: Actor Vinayakan who was booked over sexual harresment complaint from a Dalit activist and former model will be arrested on Tuesday.
It is reported that Kalpetta police will arrest him soon.
The woman in her complaint alleged that when she phoned Vinayakan to invite him for a programme, he verbally abused her.
Kalpetta police have recorded her statement on Monday.
In her statement, she repeated the allegations which she revealed earlier through a Facebook post.
Along with her complaint, she also submitted a copy of the call record as evidence.
Sources close to the probe team hinted that Vinayakan will be arrested as the police got strong evidence against him.
A police official said the case was registered against the “Thottappan” actor under IPC sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 294 (B) (uttering obscene words) and section 120 (O) (causing nuisance to any person by repeated or undesirable or anonymous calls) of the Kerala Police Act.
The complainant is a native of Kottayam.
Though the woman had lodged the complaint in Kottayam, it was transferred to the police station here as the alleged incident happened there, the official added.
Known for his character as well as comic roles, Vinayakan, who began his career as a dancer, has been part of Malayalam cinema for the last two decades.
He was the recipient of the ‘best actor’ Kerala State award for his role in Rajiv Ravi-directed 2016 movie “Kammattipaadam”.
