Thiruvananthapuram: So as to avoid the delay in declaring results, Election Commission has announced a slight change in the counting pattern.
It has now been decided that the counting of the electronic voting machines (EVMs) will not be stopped midway for the counting of postal ballots to end.
“Once the EVM counting begins, it will continue undisturbed,” chief electoral officer Teeka Ram Meena said.
In other words, the counting of EVM and postal ballots will be conducted simultaneously.
Earlier, it was said that the last two rounds of EVM counting will be put on hold till the postal ballots were fully counted.
Postal ballots, along with the service votes of armed forces that are electronically transmitted, will be the first to be counted.
