Independent candidate hacked in Vadakara

Thalassery: An independent candidate at Vadakara Lok Sabha constituency, COT Naseer was hacked by unidentified assailants here on Saturday evening.

Sources said the incident took place at 6 pm when Naseer was heading home on his scooter.

Two persons on another bike knocked Naseer down and hacked him. He sustained injuries on his head, arms and abdomen.

Naseer was rushed to the Kozhikode medical college where he is undergoing treatment.

Formerly a CPM activist, Naseer quit the party in 2015. He was in the news following his decision to contest against P Jayarajan in Vadakara.

In April, Naseer was attacked while seeking votes at Meppayyur town. This is the third time that Naseer is being hacked after he quit the party.
