Drug peddlers nabbed with 90 Nitrosun tablets in the state capital; Serial actresses and college-goers primary customers

Thiruvananthapuram: The officials of Kazhakkuttom excise range Friday arrested two drug peddlers with 90 tablets of Nitrosun MG, a prescription drug used as sedative to treat sleep disorders. The duo was taken into custody from near Kazhakuttom-Thampuranmukku bus stand.

The excise officials identified the accused as Arun Kumar aka Kedi Arun (24) of Manacaud and Bihar native Ravi Ram (29) who is also a resident of Manacaud in Thiruvananthapuram.

Incidentally Arun happens to be the younger brother of notorious criminal Sathi alias Tsunami Sathi. The latter is involved in numerous peddling and criminal cases.

The excise officials also confiscated their auto rickshaw.

According to a senior excise official, the culprits used to trap young ladies who were mostly college students, through smart phones and offer them synthetic drugs and bring them under their allurement. Some famous serial actresses were also among their customers, it is learned.

The seized tablets

The major Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case involving synthetic drugs was detected by Excise Inspector Pratheep Rao and Assistant Excise Inspector Mukesh Kumar.

The raid team also includes POS Harikumar, Rakesh, K R Rajesh, Thomas Xavier Gomez, CEOS Jaseem, Subin, Rajesh, Shamnad, Vipin, Manikandan, WCEO Rejina and driver Sunil Kumar.
