K Sudhakaran announces that he will not contest LS polls

Kochi: K Sudhakaran has announced that he doesn’t intend to contest the LokSabha polls. He clarified that he is interested to be in the state politics and he has conveyed his interest to the central leadership too.

Earlier reports speculated that Sudhakaran will again contest in Kannur. But, his withdrawal was unexpected.

With this, Congress has to find a powerful candidate to regain the constituency.

As Sudhakaran made it clear that he is interested in state politics, it is learnt that he is aiming for the KPCC president’s post.

Sudhakaran reportedly calculates that he will get the position if Mullappally Ramachandran contests in Vadakara as he had already revealed his desire to become KPCC president.

Sudhakaran was defeated by PK Sreemathy by a margin of 6566 votes in 2014. But, the party feels that a favourable situation prevails in the constituency and victory is certain if they field Sudhakaran now.
