Modified car gets a whopping Rs 4,89,000 fine in Kerala

Kochi: The Kerala Motor Vehicles department has slapped a fine of Rs 4,89,000 on a Mini Cooper car here which was modified illegally.

The luxurious car was caught by motor vehicle inspector Eldose Vargheese on last 15th on a routine vehicle inspection when it speeded up than the permitted limits at Kaloor.

Following, the inspector found out that the car was registered in Jharkhand and the vehicle did not have permission to ply here. It was also found that even the silencer of the car was modified.

The car worth thirty lakhs was parked at the Kaloor metro parking and was handed back to its registered owner yesterday, after remitting the fine and producing the papers before the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Joy P Jose.
