Palakkad: “Jai Ho” which is the mega walkathon or the padhayatra led by District Congress Committee President VK Sreekandan continues to captivate thousands here. It was seen that many people, even from other parties were joining the Congress faction in groups.

The fourth day’s padhayatra started from Koduvayur after paying floral tributes to leaders of yesteryear.

After four days since the walkathon has started, many joined the Congress party. The latest to join the camp was Kozhinjampara Gramapanchayat Vice-President and Janata Dal leader Shanthi. She joined Congress after surrendering her party membership from Janata Dal and quitting as the Gramapanchayat Vice-President.

The walkathon is gaining immense popularity among the residents and party workers here.

The padhayatra focuses on to strengthen the party before the elections and to resist vindictive undemocratic fascist power.

Earlier the DCC (District Congress Committee) decided to conduct ‘Jai Ho’ in January but refrained as the Janamaha yatra by the KPCC was going on.

The District Congress Committee is organizing a walkathon after 42 years. It was back in 1977 the then District Congress Committee president P Balan, had conducted a padhayatra.

Meanwhile, DCC president VK Sreekandan said that if party demands he will contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. But the final verdict on the candidature-ship is decided by the KPCC election committee and the high command, he added.
