Major fire breaks out in Kochi; Fire and Rescue units rushes to spot and are trying to bring the fire under control

Kochi: A major fire broke out at the six-storey godown of footwear brand Paragon near Ernakulam South Railway Station on Wednesday.

Fire and Rescue units have reached the spot and are trying to bring the fire under control. The fire was first reported from the fourth floor of the building that has a showroom and godown.

Though no causalities are reported so far, it is reported that there are chances for the fire to spread to nearby buildings. Fire force personnel are primarily engaged in preventing this.

More fire force units have arrived at the spot. Huge smoke was found rising from the building. Workers from the building and people from nearby buildings were hurriedly evacuated.

A short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the fire. kochi-fire-2 Residents of the nearby apartments and buildings have been told to evacuate immediately.
