Kerala Congress leader OM George booked for raping minor tribal girl

Kalpetta: O M George who was the former Wayanad District Congress Committee general secretary was expelled from the primary membership of the party on Wednesday after a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case was registered against him.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Kodikkunnil Suresh confirmed that KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran has expelled George.

Following a complaint by the Childline officials in the district, the Sulthan Bathery police registered the case.

According to the police, a tribal girl was sexually abused for nearly one-and-a-half years by George. The girl is under the care and protection of Childline officials now.

George has been absconding soon after the case was registered on Tuesday.

The family of the teenage girl were domestic aide at George’s house and on holidays the girl also used to help them. The girl’s parents complained that she was abused when they were away.
