Kochi: The BJP state general secretary K Surendran’s plea seeking relaxation in bail conditions and to permit him to enter Sabarimala temple was on Tuesday dismissed by the Kerala High Court.
The court had earlier restricted Surendran from entering Pathanamthitta district while granting conditional bail to him. He was booked and arrested in connection with the violent protest in Sabarimala over women entry.
The court also had asked him whether he will make any attempt to disturb the peaceful state in Sabarimala.
In his new petition, Surendran requested the court to grant permission to visit Sabarimala for the Makaravilakku festival. Receiving the petition, the court asked the government to file a report on the matter.
The government pleader at the court opposed giving permission to Surendran to enter the hill shrine, noting that it is a planned move to shatter peace in Sabarimala.
Following this, the High Court rejected the petition and ordered that Surendran can approach Pathanamthitta district magistrate court for relaxation in his bail conditions.
