Sabarimala row: statewide hartal begins, protesters hurls stones at KSRTC buses

Sabarimala: Situation remain tense at Pamba, and Nilakkal as the Sabarimala temple opened on the second day for monthly rituals.

The hartal called by Hindu outfits in the backdrop of the Supreme Court verdict allowing women of menstrual age to enter the shrine started on Thursday and incidents of violence were reported from Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode as protesters hurled stones at KSRTC buses.

Pathanamthitta district collector PB Nooha said that Section 144 would be imposed at Sannidhanam, Pamba, Nillakkal and Ilavunkal on Thursday.

The collector said that the prohibitory orders will not affect the pilgrims and was issued to stop the agitations.
