Heavy rain kills 37 in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain across the state has claimed thirty seven lives so far according to reports since August 8. In a statement, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) advised fishermen not to venture in the central Arabian Sea for the next two days.

A total of 21 people are missing in Kerala in the monsoon fury. According to Indian National Centre for Ocean information services, there was a possibility of flooding in low-lying coastal areas in Kerala, especially during high tide timings due to ‘Perigean spring tides’ from August 11-15.
