The two suspects in custody were the assistants of the slain man, Krishnan. One of them is a native of Nedumkandam.

Meanwhile Idukki district police chief K B Venugopal ruled out burglary as a motive behind the crime.

Earlier Thursday, sources had revealed that the investigation into the mass murder will rely on the autopsy report to a great level.

Kaanatt Krishnan (54), his wife Suseela (50), daughter Aarsha (21) and son Arjun (18) were murdered after they hit on their head with some heavy object on Sunday.

The investigation is on the basis of facts recorded in Krishnan’s diary. Four mobile phones found from the house will be critical in resolving the case. Krishnan is learnt to have written the details of his poojas in his diary.

Police will conduct the probe on the basis of this. The police will also collect details of the incoming and outgoing calls in Krishnan’s phone. The police expect that vital information can be obtained from this. It was found that Arsha, the BEd student who was murdered had used Whatsapp till 11:30 pm on the night of the murder. The police will also examine her chat details.

Krishnan had charged huge amount as fee for performing the black magic. It was found in the police investigation that he used to charge Rs 50,000 usually.

However, for going to a house for performing poojas, he had charged twice the amount. Neighbours had given statements that they have seen cars such as Audi and Benz with Tamil Nadu registration. The probe is likely to be extended to Tamil Nadu, as well, based on this fact.
