Idukki dam’s water level reaches 2396.24 feet

Thiruvananthapuram: The water level of the Idukki dam reached 2396.24 feet on Friday morning, up from 2396 feet from the previous day.

The water level was gauged by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) at 7 am today.

Power minister MM Mani hinted yesterday at opening floodgates of Cheruthoni reservoir in case water level at Idukki dam shoots up to 2,398 feet.

Soothing the public nerves, he said people would be alerted as water level climbs to 2,397 feet. Alongside, a trial run would be made just as water hits 2,398 feet.
