Liga murder: culprits confess to crime, arrest today

Thiruvananthapuram: As Latvian lady Liga will be laid to rest today, the arrest of Kovalam Vazhamuttam natives Umesh and Udayan, in connection with her murder will be recorded today. Both are locals and relatives. The investigation team indicated that both under custody have confessed to the crime two days ago.

It is learned that the arrest was delayed as it took a while to sync the evidences which prove their involvement in the case. It is reportedly known that the culprits have agreed that the murder was committed amidst attempt of rape.

The other two persons who were taken into custody as part of the case were released on Monday.

As per a statement recorded earlier, the culprits had physical relation with Liga after giving her drugs but she resisted later, which led to the murder.

However, police have not obtained any scientific evidence to prove physical assault or rape.

The scientific examination report of the internal organs is likely to be available today, and the forensic examination report also will be handed over to police.

Both the records are crucial in the case.
