Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress workers in the state capital on Friday allegedly manhandled a youth who had questioned leader of the opposition, Ramesh Chennithala, recently at the venue of the protest by Thiruvananthapuram native Sreejith seeking CBI probe into the death of his brother.
The youth identified as Edward Anderson, who had raised some unsettling questions to Chennithala when the latter visited the protest venue, had to face the assault near the same spot.
As per the Cantonment police, Edward was walking in front of Statue hotel when some Youth Congress workers were dispersing after a rally there. A woman worker identified him and yelled that this was the man who insulted Chennithala. Though Edward ran towards the policemen in the area, he was beaten up
“We received a complaint from Edward and as per his statement we have registered two cases against unidentified Youth Congress workers. They will be taken into custody soon,” said Cantonment CI Prasad to Evartha.
Meanwhile it is learned that the health condition of Anderson is stable now.
