Thiruvananthapuram: The leader for opposition V S Achuthanandan said the party has been destabilized by the false moves committed by the party leadership and attempts are being made to rectify those mistakes and move ahead.
The results of some leaders who had made attempts to align with religious outfits had been reflected in the poll results. Going against the Communist ideology of extending hands with religion-based parties and having aligned with parties like PDP leader Madhani had attracted widespread reactions from secular people. This had resulted in the party’s defeat, disclosed V S Achuthanandhan in an interview to a vernacular daily `Janashakti’.
In the 2004 LS polls, out of 20 seats, LDF emerged victorious in 18 seats. At the same time, in the 2009 polls, the party suffered a setback due to joining hands with religious outfits and excluding the Janata Dal headed by MP Veerendra Kumar. These errors were examined openly and stern action initiated not to repeat it, VS said.
The Left had won the 18 seats in 2004 along with the CPM, CPI, RSP and Janata Dal. In the 2014 elections the RSP quit and the Pathanamthitta seat was offered to a AICC member. Now the Janata Dal, RSP are not among us. The CPI and the CPM is only remaining with us, added VS.
