Viswanathan was suffering from age-related illness and breathed his last in Chennai.
The music maestro was admitted to Malar Hospital in Chennai on June 27 following breathing trouble. His body will be laid to rest on Wednesday.
MSV had composed over 1,800 songs in various languages, including Malayalam. Popularly known as ‘king of light music’ (Mellisai Mannar), Vishwanathan had also worked in Malayalam films such as Manthrakodi, Babu Mon, Ullasa Yathra and Amme Anupamea.
He is a recipient of Kalamamani and several other music awards.
MSV is survived by four sons and three daughters.
