Thiruvananthapuram: The name of new curator and artistic director for the third edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale will be announced by Minister for Culture K C Joseph at a function here on July 15.
Minister for Tourism A P Anil Kumar, Members of Parliament, the state Legislative Assembly, heads of various government departments and Kochi Biennale Foundation trustees will take part in the function, to be held at Hilton Garden Inn Hotel at 12.30 pm.
With its previous two editions, Kochi Muziris Biennale has evolved a strong link between artists and the general public. The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF), by successfully showcasing the last two editions of the Biennale, has created a new wave of change in the Indian art culture and has set a new landscape for art in India by activating new publics that provoke in society new questions and new sensibilities. The last two editions witnessed a footfall of over 9 lakh.
The curator for Kochi Muziris Biennale 2016 was selected after a month-long deliberation by a high-powered panel under KBF comprising eminent artists and prominent personalities.
Renowned artists including Amar Kanwar, AtulDodiya, BhartiKher, JyotiBasu, KiranNadar, RanjitHoskote, Shireen Gandhi, V Sunil, RiyasKomu and Bose Krishnamachari were part of the panel.
