“On the request of family members, she was discharged around 9:30 am”, a spokesperson of Fortis Hospital told PTI.
The 66-year-old actress had undergone a surgery for her wounds at the hospital on Friday. She was also treated for a minor fracture on her nose.
A four-year-old girl was killed while five others were injured including the actress when Hema’s car collided with another car on Thursday night in Dausa, 60 km from here.
Mahesh Chand Thakur, who was driving Hema’s car when it met with the accident, had been arrested at Kotwali Thana in Dausa.
An FIR was lodged against the driver, who hails from Vrindavan, under various sections of IPC including 279 (rash driving) and 304 (A) (causing death by negligence not amounting to culpable homicide).
Thakaur was yesterday produced before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Pallavi Sharma who granted bail to the driver. He was later released on bail.
Relatives of the four-year-old girl, killed in a car crash with Hema Malini’s Mercedes, have alleged that the child was lying at the accident spot for nearly 20 minutes and could have been saved had she been taken to the hospital along with the BJP MP.
“Hema Malini was taken to a hospital in Dausa by a doctor immediately after the incident. He then took her to Fortis hospital while Sonam was lying at the spot for 15-20 minutes. Nobody asked about her,” alleged Shirish Gupta, uncle of Sonam who succumbed to injuries on way to hospital in Dausa on Thursday night.
“Had she (Sonam) been taken to the hospital along with Hema Malini, she would have been saved,” Gupta said.
Mean while actor-turned-politician Hema has expressed her “deep sorrow” over the death of the child, saying she was “very sad and in a distressed mind” after hearing the news.
In a statement released on Friday evening Hema said, “I can realise the hard time the family is facing after her (Sonam’s) death. I pray to god to give them strength to bear this loss.”
The BJP MP from Mathura underwent a surgery for her wounds at Fortis hospital and was doing fine, doctors attending to her said. She was also treated for a minor fracture on her nose.
