HC upholds State’s liquor policy; only 24 five star bars liable to function after April 1

5.2b-Chalet-Bar-007Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court has proclaimed that only 24 five star bars would be granted permission to function after April 1, which exhilarates the state’s liquor policy.

With this, there would be only 24 bars in the state. The bar owners had earlier submitted a plea questioning the state’s liquor policy to which the court’s current verdict has come.

The division bench comprising Justice K.T. Sankaran and Justice Babu Mathew P.Joseph stayed the single bench order directing government to allow bar licence to four-star and heritage bars in the state. The government had challenged this order.

Mean while the bar owners are all set to knock the supreme court door.
