Serious irregularities found in raid on ration shops across the state

Thiruvananthapuram: 190 ration shops and seven public distribution centres across the state were found with irregularities by the civil supplies vigilance wing’s raid.

As many as 218 retail ration sales depots, nine ration wholesale depots, four kerosene wholesale depots, 12 public distribution centres and 16 hotels in nine districts were raided. The vigilance squad seized nine gas cylinders used illegally and 148kg rice in the raids.

In Thrissur, irregularities in some ration shops functioning in Irinjalakkuda taluk were found and the licence of a shop in Palakkad was also suspended following detection of serious irregularities.

The vigilance wing has urged the public to report complaints about ration shops and public distribution centres either on toll-free number 1800-425-1550 or on 1967.
