Mani allots Rs 1074.62 crore for the overall development of the education sector

km-mani-budget-presentation.jpg.image.784.410Thiruvananthapuram: Finance minister K M Mani has allocated Rs 1074.62 cr for the overall development of the education sector in the 13th state budget presented here on Friday.

The budget has allocated Rs 8 cr to upgrade 100 schools in the state to international status under the Mission 100 project on the lines of the Kozhikode Nadakkav school. It has also allocated Rs 50 crore for land takeover and for basic facilities for the Palakkad IIT.

The minister has also said that basic facilies at the Thiruvananthapuram GV Raja Sports School and Kannur GVHS sports school will be developed. Rs 61 cr has been granted for improving basic facilities at Govt Higher Secondary Schools.

Development of lab facilities at govt colleges and libraries will get Rs 8 cr. The budget has allocated Rs 25 crore for improving the basic facilities at colleges during this year.

Rs 15 cr has been apportioned for Kottayam Science City as part of the 2nd phase of education through entertainment.

Rs 10 cr has been granted for improving the infrastructure at the proposed Mallappuram LBS Institute of Technology.

A civil service training centre will be set up at Aloor in Thrissur district. Rs 2 cr has been allotted for completing the auditorium works at the Victoria college in Palakkad as part of their 125 years of celebration.
