Coimbatore: Mala Aravindan (72), Malayalam actor and comedian passed away on Wednesday morning at a private hospital here in Coimbatore. The actor was under treatment for cardiac-related ailments at the Kovai Medical Centre.
Aravindan was critical after suffering a cardiac arrest at a hospital, where he was admitted a few weeks ago. He was on ventilator support.
‘The 72-year-old actor, who was admitted to Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital here on January 19 following a cardiac problem suffered a heart attack and was shifted to the ICU, where he was diagnosed as having ‘diffused block,’ hospital sources said.
Aravindan started his film career in 1968 and his debut film was Sindhooram. He had acted in more than 600 movies.
Born to Ayyappan and Ponnamma, Aravindan began his career as a tabla artist.
