New Delhi: Delhi Police has served a notice to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor asking him to join investigation into the mysterious death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar. Sources said that Tharoor, who is in Kerala, has been asked to join probe at the earliest.
‘We have served a legal notice to Tharoor to join the murder probe Wednesday evening. The questioning will be held in under section 160 CrPc,’ said a senior official.
Pushkar, 52 was found dead in her south Delhi’s hotel room Jan 17, 2014. Delhi Police had registered a case of murder a few days ago, following the final opinion report from the board of doctors conducted post-mortem on Pushkar.
According to reports, Delhi Police may also add additional charge under Section 328, which pertains to causing hurt by means of poison.
Tharoor had alleged last year that the Delhi Police had threatened his domestic help to name him as the killer of his wife.
In a letter dated November 13, 2014 written by Tharoor to Delhi Police Commissioner GS Bassi, the former Union minister had complained about the Investigating Officer intimidating and physically assaulting his help, Narayan Singh, to confess that he and Tharoor murdered Pushkar.
In the mean while, Delhi Police is now planning to send Pushkar’s viscera samples to a laboratory either in Britain or the US to identify the poison including whether it could be radioactive isotopes that cannot be detected in Indian labs. “She died due to poisoning. Whether the poison was given orally or injected into her body is being probed,” he said, adding her viscera would be sent abroad.
The mystery behind the death of Sunanda is yet to reveal many conspiracies and decide political faith of Kerala, speculates the anti-Tharoors
