GRPF finds huge quantity of explosives in Guwahati railway station

eweGuwahati: On the eve of the 19th National Youth Festival beginning today, the Guwahati railway police force (GRPF) seized huge quantity of gelatin sticks and cordex wires from an unclaimed bag here.

Security personnel founded explosives during routine patrolling and at least 106 gelatin sticks and six wire rolls was noticed in platform number three.

According to the sources, they were not immediately known to which militant outfit the explosives belonged or who was carrying them. In the wake of the incident, security measures have been intensified in the railway stations and the city where nearly 5000 youths from across the country have congregate to showcase their talent in the field of art and culture.

The festival will be organized by the union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the state government. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is scheduled to be the chief guest and union youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will preside over the ceremony.
