Malapuram’s Angadipuram resident, Dr Kailas is now working as director of computational physics and fluid dynamics in the US Naval research laboratory. He was honoured for his effective findings on noise reducing retrofit for jet engines during take-off and bringing 20% drop in fuel consumption.
The award consists of a gold medal and a meritorious certificate. Chief of Naval research Matthew Klunder handed over the award to Nath.
Kailas Nath is an Aeronautical engineering graduate from IIT and holds a Masters Degree and PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. Earlier, Kailas had bagged the Fellowship by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronics. Besides he has won NRL technology transfer award, Special act service award, NRL invention award, Navy Meritorial Civilian Award, and Best paper award by International Gas Turbine Institute among others.
Kailas Nath is member of Cheriyachan Veetil Kizhakatra family . He is son of late C.P. Balakrishna Tharakan and Madhavikuttinanga. His wife is Sheela, (who is a native of Palakkad) and his only daughter is Vineetha. Both are employed in USA.
