Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala will now have free Cancer treatment for cancer patients. Along with the five government medical colleges and eight other hospitals, the free treatment will be made available for the patients by November 1st.
The treatments offered at Government Medical Colleges, Thiruvananthapuram State cancer institute, Malabar cancer centre and Ernakulam General Hospital will not bear the barrier of APL or BPL ration cards, which means that the treatment can be availed by people hailing from all section of the society, no matter rich or the poor. Accordingly the second phase of the scheme will include the whole state, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
The free cancer treatment scheme, ‘Sukrudham’ was inaugurated by the actor Mammooty. ”I pray that this scheme, which may eradicate cancer, must not be lagged to reach the needy people,” said the actor.
