Scholarship schemes for differently-abled students announced

The National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) on behalf of Development of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has announced scholarship schemes for differently-abled students.


2,000 scholarships will be awarded to eligible students for their degree and PG level professional and technical courses under the trust fund scheme for which the students will have to take the courses from recognized institutions in India.

30 per cent have been reserved to girls. However, in case of non-availability of female candidates, this allotment will be transferred to male students.

The scholarship will be restricted to the fee charged by government/government aided institutions.

Apart from this, maintenance fee will also be paid for an eligible period. Book/stationary allowance will also be paid to the students.

Differently-abled students will be provided financial assistance for purchasing aids and appliances once during their lifetime.

In order to avail this scholarship, the monthly income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian should be less than Rs 25,000. The candidate should not be availing any other scholarship /stipend.

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship at any time of the academic year.
