The ‘God of small things’ author Arundhathi Roy may be subjected to
face a legal action against her statement made, of accusing Mahatma
Gandhi of discrimination and as a casteist.Roy lit fire to the
controversy earlier in a speech delivered by her on the occasion of
Ayyankali lecture organized by the Ayyankali Chair of Kerala
Meanwhile, activists have condemned the police’s move to register case
against Arundhati Roy over her recent remarks over Gandhi.
“The move is against a person’s right to freedom of speech.India is a
democratic country and the move is a kind of fascism” alleged an
activist K K Koch.
Another Activist C.R Neelakandan has said that “Indian constitution
doesn’t say Mahatma Gandhi should not be criticized and Arundhathi Roy
has the right to do that”.
