Constitutional crisis in Andhra due to President’s rule

images (2)The state of Andhra Pradesh is to face another crisis in the constitutional structure as the President’s rule will lapse on April 30, if the Parliament is not convened before that and gives its consent to the President’s rule.
Highlighting this issue Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan has written a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee.
This is an embarrassing lapse on part of the UPA government, which did not keep in mind the constitutional provision before the Union Cabinet approved the President’s rule on February 28.
According to sources, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is seized of the matter and is looking at all options. Constitutional provision said that the Parliament approval needed within two months of imposing the President’s rule.
