According to the list released by the International Cricket Council on Sunday, Virat Kohli returns to number one spot in ODI ranking while Jadeja is best Indian bowler. Virat Kohli’s brilliant form has taken him to the number one position in the latest ICC Players Rankings for ODI batsmen.
The list puts Kohli ahead of South African AB de Villiers, who had dethroned the Indian in December.
But Kohli’s consistent performances allowed him to reclaim the top position after the Asia Cup in Bangladesh where the Delhi batsman led the Indian team.
Kohli entered the Asia Cup trailing de Villiers by just two rating points, and his knock of 136 against Bangladesh in India’s opening match took the Indian to a career-high rating of 886 points.
However, scores of 48 against Sri Lanka and five against Pakistan pushed him back and he finished the tournament with 881 points.
Kohli’s tournament aggregate of 189 runs in three innings earned him 12 ratings points and put him ahead of South Africa’s ODI captain by nine points.
The Delhi youngster is set to remain at the top of the charts for at least the coming few weeks as de Villiers is currently involved in a T20 series against Australia, before all teams jump headlong into the ICC World T20.
In the ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandaran Ashwin are the biggest gainers inside the top 20. Jadeja is now ranked fifth, gaining four places.
The left-arm spinner took seven wickets in four matches, while Ashwin’s nine in the series took him to 14th position, a jump of seven places.
